Longwood, FL.- Item level traceability has now taken a large leap forward in becoming a reality in the agricultural space with the announcement of N2N Solution’s “Traceability Source”. Traceability Source is a new service being offered by N2N Global for free. With this service, companies can extend their traceability solutions to the item level.
“A lot of needed work has been done by the PTI (Produce Traceability Initiative) at the case level,” according to Chairman Angela Paymard of N2N Global, “but more work was needed to be done at the item level. We are offering this service free of charge to show our commitment to help the industry identify the potential source of the problem faster, thereby minimizing the liability to the brand, to the commodity and to the industry.”
This service enables any individual to identify the source of the product immediately upon accessing the corresponding website. Once there, the consumer can find out information about when the product was harvested, where it was harvested, the lot or batch from which it came, nutritional information, etc.
“First and foremost, Traceability Source will speed up the trace-back process,” commented Ernesto Nardone – CEO of N2N Global. “It will also allow companies to connect directly with the consumer, retrieving valuable feedback and providing targeted marketing.”
The service allows suppliers to customize the look and feel of the pages used to show information. These pages will reside on a website hosted by N2N Global. Various templates will be used to assist suppliers as they format the appropriate pages, allowing them to add key information such as commodity, variety, field, lot, harvest date, pack date, etc. In addition, suppliers can also add information such as food safety protocols, nutrition, recipes, links to home pages, links to coupons, etc. They can also add their own logo and various audio and/or picture files.
“With the PTI, the industry has can identify the path the product took through the supply chain. With Traceability Source, however, the industry now has the means to quickly identify the source of the item”, added Paymard. “Both parts are critical to determine the potential point of contamination. The industry needs the PTI and traceability source adds to the great work that has already been done by our industry and our trade associations with regard to this important issue.
